Steadway Capital was founded to acquire and build established businesses in regulated industrial services in the UK.

We look to acquire owner-managed businesses with a strong track record and loyal customers, typically where the owner is planning for succession or thinking about the next stage of their own involvement.

We take a long-term view. We start by understanding how the business works today and why it has done well. Only then do we decide where it can develop further. We do not change things for the sake of it.

Management runs the business day to day. Steadway works alongside them on the bigger decisions: strategy, growth, capital allocation and complementary acquisitions. Where the team needs strengthening as the owner steps back, we bring in the right people.

We place real value on the knowledge and relationships the owner has built over many years. We want the team who know the business to stay and continue to play an important role in its future. We agree a handover with the owner that fits their circumstances and gives staff and customers continuity.

Steadway is building businesses to own for the long term, with no predetermined exit date. Our aim is to preserve what has made each business successful – its people, its customers and the standard of its work – and to keep developing it over time.

Jonas Laibner

Founder & Managing Director
For more than ten years I advised on deals across industrial and B2B services. Now I am investing in that space myself, because the best businesses I saw were built by owners who cared about their people, their customers and the standard of their work. Steadway exists to carry that on, for the long term.”

Jonas founded Steadway Capital in 2026, after more than ten years in mid-market M&A across industrial and B2B services. He spent eight years at US investment bank Baird (Robert W. Baird), most recently as a Vice President in its Global Industrials team in London. At Baird he advised private equity and corporate clients on buy-side and sell-side transactions across the UK, Europe and the US, including carve-outs, minority investments and cross-border deals.

Before Baird, Jonas worked in M&A and accounting at DC Advisory, KPMG and Mediobanca. He holds a Master's in Corporate Finance from Bayes Business School in London and a double Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance from Bremen University of Applied Sciences and Dublin Business School, both with distinction.
